“Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” day is a way to reach out to those neighbors or friends in need by planting flowers at their homes.
Care and Go Local ministries is pre-purchasing flower vouchers each redeemable for ~$16 of flowers. You are encouraged to pray, reach out to someone who may need encouragement or who may not be physically able to plant this Spring. This could be a neighbor, fellow Midland Free attender or even a North Midland resident you met at the Day of Caring last Spring!
Voucher and Plant pick up is May 30 After the Governor’s Stay at Home order expires. If the stay at home order is extended, the date will be moved accordingly. Planting can occur any time at your convenience.
Lapham’s Garden Center 1314 W. Wheeler (8am-8pm) will have pre-purchased $16 vouchers available on Saturday May 30 for Midland Free attenders, one per family please. You may chose to buy flats, or a hanging basket, or a variety, or perhaps based on your neighbor’s preference. Flats are typically $10 a piece, so you may buy additional flowers also. We will have a limited number of vouchers available, so it will be on a first come-first serve basis!. And, of course you may purchase more flowers with your own funds if you chose!
You are responsible for contacting your neighbor (perhaps asking if they have a favorite type of flower or preference), obtaining the free voucher at Laphams, planting and cleaning up after planting. Use this opportunity to build or deepen your relationship with your neighbor. We also ask you maintain physical distancing when interacting with one another and follow strict safety standards. A special thank you to Ron Lapham for offering us a discount and enthusiastically helping with this initiative!
WE LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING HOW GOD WILL USE THIS SIMPLE ACT TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS, BRING HOPE and BRING PEOPLE ONE STEP CLOSER TO JESUS!!
