summer worship @ 10:30 am
The worship dance ministry team is made up of those with a passion for and proficiency at interpretive dance and movement. The goal of this ministry is to enhance and display, through movement, the act of worship. Used with music in an interpretive form, dance is a means of expressing praise and worship to God individually and corporately. We also believe that the training of our youth and children in these expressions are worthy endeavors for their spiritual formation. The Worship Dance Season runs September through early May for those in 3rd-12th grades. It will start with a Worship Dance Workshop Saturday, September 9, and conclude with a Recital on Sunday, May 6. Practices take place on Thursdays.
No new dancers will be accepted after the first practice.
The purpose of the workshop is to inform parents and dancers of what to expect if they become involved with the Worship Dance Ministry, to allow new dancers to try Worship Dance before committing to the ministry, and to learn a routine that will be used sometime during the year. There will be a brief informative talk for parents the first 30 minutes of the Workshop and a demonstration by the dancers the last 10 minutes to show parents what they have learned. A participation form needs to be filled out before the workshop begins and is part of the online registration process. Registration begins at 8:40 am, Saturday, Sept 9.
A parent or legal guardian is asked to be present at the parent meeting. Topics of discussion are cost, outfits, policies, changes, and the Concert of Dance or end of the year program. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please make sure you contact Tara Jones to arrange a time to meet at (989) 832-5064 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
