2011-2012 God's Big Picture
September 11, 2011 - June 3, 2012
“God’s Big Picture”
Children’s Worship meets from September through June and invites all K - 5th Graders to attend in Room 116 at 9:00 or 10:45 am. Children's worship does not meet during the summer.
Settled on a dude ranch with a covered wagon puppet theater, and a cracklin’ fire, children come to worship and praise Almighty God…hootin’ and a hollerin’ “Yippee Yay, Jesus!” as we experience God’s Big Picture.
The Bible lessons in God’s Big Picture help us to understand the Supremacy of God and His Holiness as He is clearly seen working in the lives of major Bible characters. God has wonderfully revealed Himself to us through nature and His Written Word. As we journey through the Bible from Genesis to Acts, we can see God is in even the minute details. And there is one purpose…the eternal design of the Almighty God to redeem a wrecked and ruined world.
Children’s Worship is where a group of kindergartners through 5th graders and adult leaders respond to God in worship and praise! We freely express our hearts to the Lord as we dance, shout, raise our hands, clap and sing praises to His Name.
Worship is a time of rejoicing and thanking God for all He is and all He does. Children who desire God, worship Him and delight in Him forever.
Ya’ll come now, ya hear!
Scope and Sequence of Study
Children’s Worship imparts to children a vision of God, who He is, and who we are in relation to Him, and to establish them with a foundation of doctrine and truth. Children’s Worship complements what our students are learning in Sunday School and provides an age-appropriate worship experience where K-5th Graders can respond to God and express their delight in Him.
We worship and honor God through singing songs of praise, sharing our offerings and talents, listening to God’s Word using dramas, puppets, scripture and object lessons. Children’s Worship is a BIG GROUP experience with small group time which builds relationships with friends and an adult shepherd while reinforcing Bible truths and simple life applications.
Students attending Children’s Worship also participate in Midland Free’s Unified Theme as we learn to be a people of I.M.P.A.C.T. for Christ in our community, our region and our world.
Children’s Worship is offered mid-September through mid-June at 9:30 am and repeated at 11:15 am. 4th & 5th Graders may be God’s Servers with a signed Parent Permission Slip during one service time on a monthly rotation schedule.
Children's Worship follows a five-year rotation of study as listed below.
God’s People Celebrate
God’s people always have the best reasons to rejoice! Students discover God’s greatness as they celebrate His festivals which He designed to be hands-on experiences reinforcing what He wanted to teach His people. Our lessons will give us an understanding of the vast scope of God’s celebrations, spanning years and cultures to remind us of who God is and what He has done.
The Way of the Wise
Proverbs is a book of great advice and an ominous warning for all ages. The advice is to pursue wisdom. The warning is to avoid folly, because foolishness leads to destruction. This study is not merely about behavior, but about the heart. Jesus is the only bridge from the way of the foolish to the way of the wise. We will be studying the book of Proverbs and other Bible passages to contrast the way of the foolish with the way of the wise.
God’s Big Picture
Yeehaw! In cowboy style students will take a walk through the Bible in a chronological order to better understand God’s perfect plan and His purpose for us and our world.
How Majestic is Your Name
The names of God are wonderful revelations of His majestic character. Set within the walls of a castle, students will learn Hebrew names of God in the Old Testament and names of Christ and the Holy Spirit in the New Testament. Each lesson encourages children to see and rejoice in the goodness and greatness of God as they explore the meaning of His glorious names.
The Fruit of the Spirit
On a tropical island setting, students explore the expressions of each fruit of God’s Holy Spirit in our lives, and learn to cultivate attitudes that will lead us to know God better and become the fruitful people He designed us to be.
God's Servers for Summer 2012
Students entering 4th or 5th grades are invited to become God's Servers to help with various roles while attending Kids' Summer Son-days Sunday School and or Children's Worship during the 2012-2013 year! If you like using a lap top, playing CD's and DVD's, using puppets, greeting friends and helping where needed, this may be a ministry role for you! A parent signed God's Server Permission slip is required and you will be scheduled to serve on a one month rotation during the service time of your choice. You can pick up your permission slip at the BLAST Connection Board, in Children's Worship, or online below. Contact: Deb Shonts (debshonts@mefchurch.org or 989.631.1144, Ext.1403).
