Children’s Worship meets from September 12, 2010 through June 6, 2011 and invites all K - 5th Graders to attend in Room 116 at 9:30 or 11:15 am.
We will be learning about The Way of the Wise in our 2010-2011 ministry year.
Children will sing, pray, share their tithes and talents, learn Biblical truths and gather in small groups in their age-appropriate style of worship.
Kindergarten through 5th graders are welcome to Children’s Worship to worship and praise the Almighty God who is the giver of all good gifts - even fruit.
Children’s Worship gathers on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 11:15 am and complements what the children are learning in their Sunday School classrooms. Parents are always welcome to come and worship with their children.
2010-2011 The Way of the Wise
The Way of the Wise
A Study for Children on Wisdom and Foolishness
Proverbs is a book of great advice...and an ominous warning. The advice is to pursue wisdom. The warning is to avoid folly, because foolishness leads to destruction. However, wisdom must be pursued—-it takes effort, discipline, a teachable heart, and instruction. This curriculum uses the book of Proverbs and other Bible passages to contrast the way of the foolish with the way of the wise. Using a large banner illustrating two paths, children learn about the characteristics and destinations of the foolish and the wise, the meaning of the fear of the Lord, the treasure of wisdom, and the only way to enter the way of the wise--through Jesus Christ.
Scope and Sequence of Study
Children’s Worship imparts to children a vision of God, who He is, and who we are in relation to Him, and to establish them with a foundation of doctrine and truth. Children’s Worship complements what our students are learning in Sunday School and provides an age-appropriate worship experience where K-5th Graders can respond to God and express their delight in Him.
We worship and honor God through singing songs of praise, sharing our offerings and talents, listening to God’s Word using dramas, puppets, scripture and object lessons. Children’s Worship is a BIG GROUP experience with small group time which builds relationships with friends and an adult shepherd while reinforcing Bible truths and simple life applications.
Students attending Children’s Worship also participate in Midland Free’s Unified Theme as we learn to be a people of I.M.P.A.C.T. for Christ in our community, our region and our world.
Children’s Worship is offered mid-September through mid-June at 9:30 am and repeated at 11:15 am. 4th & 5th Graders may be God’s Servers with a signed Parent Permission Slip during one service time on a monthly rotation schedule.
Children's Worship follows a five-year rotation of study as listed below.
God’s People Celebrate
God’s people always have the best reasons to rejoice! Students discover God’s greatness as they celebrate His festivals which He designed to be hands-on experiences reinforcing what He wanted to teach His people. Our lessons will give us an understanding of the vast scope of God’s celebrations, spanning years and cultures to remind us of who God is and what He has done.
The Way of the Wise
Proverbs is a book of great advice and an ominous warning for all ages. The advice is to pursue wisdom. The warning is to avoid folly, because foolishness leads to destruction. This study is not merely about behavior, but about the heart. Jesus is the only bridge from the way of the foolish to the way of the wise. We will be studying the book of Proverbs and other Bible passages to contrast the way of the foolish with the way of the wise.
God’s Big Picture
Yeehaw! In cowboy style students will take a walk through the Bible in a chronological order to better understand God’s perfect plan and His purpose for us and our world.
How Majestic is Your Name
The names of God are wonderful revelations of His majestic character. Set within the walls of a castle, students will learn Hebrew names of God in the Old Testament and names of Christ and the Holy Spirit in the New Testament. Each lesson encourages children to see and rejoice in the goodness and greatness of God as they explore the meaning of His glorious names.
The Fruit of the Spirit
On a tropical island setting, students explore the expressions of each fruit of God’s Holy Spirit in our lives, and learn to cultivate attitudes that will lead us to know God better and become the fruitful people He designed us to be.
God's Servers
Fourth and Fifth Graders have the opportunity to be God’s Servers when they attend one of two Children’s Worship Services on Sunday mornings. A parent permission slip is required and they are located at the Children’s Ministries Connections board, next to the main check-in window or click on parent permission slip below. Students will receive a schedule for one month when it is their turn to serve.
