Men's Basketball League

Midland Free Adult Sports and Recreation Ministry is excited to announce Mid-Michigan’s first Christ-centered outreach Men’s Basketball League. Never before in the Midland area has sport and ministry come together in a basketball league for men. This men’s basketball league will provide each team with opportunity for outreach, exercise, and fellowship in a competitive yet welcoming atmosphere. 

Facility and Plan

Our facility offers two, full-size basketball courts enabling us to have two games playing simultaneously. Each night will start off by listening to contemporary Christian music during warm-ups. Before the start of each game time, all four teams will meet for a group prayer at center court. At halftime, we will have a five minute “Halftime Huddle” devotional, followed by prayer with both teams at the end of each game.

Competition Level

The competition level of our league will be a Low to Mid B range. The league will start Monday, December 8, 2008. There will be scrimmage times available to each team on Monday, November 10^th,  17^th and December 1 at either 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. We will have eight regular season games and a double elimination league tournament. Each team will play a minimum of ten games and will have three scrimmage opportunities. 

Cost and Team Structure

The cost is $45 per person. There will be no team fees or tournament fees.  Each team will have a minimum of eight players. A majority of the players must be active attenders at your church. Smaller churches will be allowed to combine with another smaller church to form a team. One to two players on each team should be a person that does not actively attend a church. Instead, they should be someone that a member of the team is reaching out to and is actively working with to introduce that person to Jesus Christ. This is not intended to allow teams to “bring in a ringer” but rather an opportunity for someone to share their faith. 

Goal

Our main goal is to give all churches an opportunity to reach out to the men of our community and provide a non-threatening, welcoming activity to help introduce men to Jesus who may normally feel very threatened by traditional church.  Our secondary goal is to provide a clean, comfortable, friendly environment for Christian men to fellowship, to embrace excellence and self-control, promote physical fitness, and encourage a relationship with Jesus Christ with other Christian men from our area. 

How to Sign Up

There are eight spots in the league and payment for a minimum of eight players must be submitted with the roster to be ensured one of the eight team spots in the Midland Free Men’s Basketball League. Players can be added after initial roster of eight is submitted.

Must Have's

• 8 players
• Payment for $45/player x 8 players ($360) made at time of online registration (Refunds are not available once team is registered).
• 1 extra person for each game provided by each team to operate either the electronic scoreboard of official scorebook.
• Jerseys (same color numbered tee shirts are fine) to distinguish teams
• Rubber soled basketball/tennis shoes
• Bring your own water.
