Parent-Child Dedication

Classes for 2017-2018 are scheduled for:

  • Sunday, April 22, 2018 - 9:00 am with dedication service on May 6, 2018.

As a Christian parent, you have the unique privilege and responsibility to raise your child in a Christ-centered home. Midland Free partners with you through a Parent-Child Dedication Class and service during specified times each year. The Dedication class will provide you simple tips on how to disciple your child. The Dedication service allows you and your child to come before the church body during Sunday morning worship to make a public pledge to raise your child to know, love and follow Jesus Christ.

One or both parents must attend a Parent-Child Dedication Orientation Class prior to participating in a Parent-Child Dedication service. Please follow the link to the right and sign up online. Contact JoDee Phillips at jodeephillips@mefchurch.org with questions.

parenting from the tree of life

October 29 - March 18
Sundays, 9:00 am, Room 309

Registration closed - class is full

An 18-week class designed for couples to work together in training their preschool to preteen children. The focus of the study is to learn to speak life into our children and our homes while raising morally responsible children. Leaders:  Jason & Johanna Humphrey

  • Part One: Life, Children and Relationships speaks to the relational components associated with healthy parenting. Because children tend to reflect the priorities and values of their home life, what is important to Mom and Dad will become important to their children, and will influence what each child becomes in the future.
  • Part Two: Life, Children and Character Development covers critical components of character training and explains the guiding principles for raising children who are kind, courteous, respectful, cooperative, confident, and certainly well mannered. No child arrives at this level of moral distinctiveness if the home life from which he or she comes is not already conversant with such virtue. Part two is as much for parents as it is for children.
  • Part Three: Life, Children, Encouragement and Correction takes up the challenges associated with the correction side of training. Correction is not all about fixing undesirable or wayward behavior—parents must also pay attention to the preventative components of training that reduce the amount of correction needed in the first place. Proactively encouraging behaviors that help children stay on track and knowing how to properly correct children to put them back on track is the focus of Part Three.

$20 for the workbook.
